Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Lead Vehicle Management System (VMS) Engineer to join our One VMS Hardware team in Berkeley, MO.
Be a part of the Boeing One VMS Hardware Team that develops the next generation of flight control equipment. Boeing is seeking a highly motivated Lead (Level 4 or 5) Engineer to guide the design, development, integration, and certification of the next-generation Vehicle Management System (VMS) for TACAIR Programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide overall technical direction to the VMS Integrated Product Team (IPT), which includes hardware, requirements, software, and labs teams
- Support VMS hardware and software development processes
- Ensure that the VMS architecture, hardware, and software meet requirements
- Coordinate VMS design, architecture, and logical interfaces with other IPTs
- Coordinate integrated test plans
- Ensure that analysis and testing satisfy certification requirements
- Coordinate the overall VMS certification process with other IPTs and certification authorities
- Provide oversight to supplier development, test, and integration activities
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.
- An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 9+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 7+ years with a Masters OR 4 + years with a PhD
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Experience or familiarity with Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) or other PID control design
- Ability to travel 10 of the time
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in avionics, electrical, and/or a mission systems role
- Experience with leading qualification testing
- Familiar with production program support needs
- Experience with test equipment development

Lead (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Lead (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). Lead (Level 4): $119,850 - $162,150
Lead (Level 5): $ 143,650 - $194,350
