Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.
Without appreciable direction, the Lead, Manufacturing Engineering (Energetics) applies expertise to directly contribute to the development of new energetic materials manufacturing concepts and techniques. This position exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Working closely with external suppliers overseeing experiments. Develop and present information to leadership.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant project assignment, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff and suppliers in the performance of assigned projects.
- Plans experimental feasibility studies and investigations to formulate problem and validate solution methods.
- Interprets analytical and experimental data including forecasting the significance of the conclusions reach on future related work.
- Develops and review statements of work and statements of requirements for compliance with L3Harris safety protocols and US Government safety specifications and requirements documents.
- Ability to travel 25 within US.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant Engineering experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related Engineering experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related Engineering experience.
- 4 years experience with mixing plastics, polymers, polymer based composition.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Chemical Engineering degree or combination of chemistry degree and engineering degree is preferred.
- Working knowledge of the application of DOD 4145.26M and associated supporting documentation is preferred.
- Project management experience a plus.
- Experience with MS Project a plus.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience planning, documenting results of experiments, and recommending next steps.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
