Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an Engineering Aircraft Manager to join our Engineering department based in Mobile, AL.

In this position you will have a unique opportunity to be as close as possible to the physical Aircraft and deeply involved through the complete Aircraft design, build, test process and Aircraft operations. Responsible for coordinating MAP Engineering deliverables and ensuring priorities are in line with industrial planning needs. Support preliminary aircraft troubleshooting and guide shop floor MFT (Multi-Functional Team). As a part of the A320 MAP Engineering Team, the jobholder is responsible for setting up and reporting performance metrics to ensure SLA requirements are met. Participate and contribute to FAL-Mobile routines as the MAP focal/entry point for Engineering and FOT related topics. Prepare technical documentation, and support the Chief Engineering delegates for milestone preparation.

Your challenges:

● Support the MAP Engineering Managers in producing and coordinating MAP Team priorities.

● This role requires the ability to adapt to the MAP environment and to develop strong links with all Engineering, FAL, Quality and Production teams.

● Planning and prioritization of work items, ensuring visibility of status is maintained in reporting tools.

● To be responsible that the aircraft milestone / quality gate will be reached without any outstanding Engineering task.

● Act as the MAP interface with several FAL Organization including MAP Management community, screening the points under MAP responsibilities and informing the relevant function leader within the MAP team.

● In a structured and orderly manner communicate inwardly (within the team) and outwardly (within the wider Autonomous Production Teams (APT’s), Multi-functional Team (MFT’s) and Aircraft Managers (ACM’s) the day&39;s planning and priorities.

● Provide (and justify) appropriate priority of each investigation for the MAP core team, and provide Engineering deliverable in the expected and needed time frame.

● Ensure that all topics under MAP responsibility have a target date agreed by MAP function leaders and feedback to manufacturing, defining priorities in line with manufacturing and Engineering milestones.

● The jobholder is in charge of Identify at section arrival condition (OSW &43; important NCs) which can become a MAP issue and plan accordingly.

● The jobholder is in charge of screening: Ensure right first time of queries (objective 0 of RTO) and ensure necessary data is provided (decision taken for class 1 and class 2, pictures, NDT, mapping…).

● Plan for Heads of Version (HoV’s), First Implementation Checks (FIC), new Modifications affecting Mobile Aircraft, work closely with Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and program planning.

● Ensure planning is prioritized and aligned to Aircraft planning (ensure the correct items are being worked at the correct time), to support Industrial Planning and milestones.

● Update the MAP reporting tools One Click Board (OCB) or equivalent- ensure they are accurate and concurrent for your designated area of responsibility.

● The jobholder is station based to ensure MAP Aircraft Manager is first contacted.

● Work closely with the Quality and MAP teams to ensure NC data Quality is in line with process requirements.

● Build a close relationship with aircraft managers and understand the FAL build process in order to anticipate potential problems.

● Performance KPI reporting to MAP Manager (in accordance with SLA and Industrial Planning), identify and support the

MAP manager(s) in implementing improvement initiatives.

● The jobholder is in charge of Feedback / lessons learnt per a/c (launch improvements internally in MAP and externally via MAP management).

● Advise manufacturing and design organizations of anticipated problems and secure MAP support to provide proactive solution proposals.

● Coordinate on-Aircraft Engineering assessments- interventions with support of the station MFT.

● Build multi-functional team relationships and be the MAP Engineering team focal point/representative at the station multi-functional team (MFT).

● Actively prepare for, and participate in routine meetings such as- Q-Gates, aircraft reviews, pre-FOT meetings, FOT meetings, Shop Floor MFT meetings, Level 1 MFT meetings etc Ensure a robust feedback loop within the MAP

Engineering teams. Support MAP Managers in escalation meetings when required (L2, L3, L4).

● Create a Minute of meeting for each station/production morning meeting. Data is directly recorded in One Click Board (or equivalent).

● Ensure good inter team communication between core MAP Engineering business areas Installation, Structures and Systems. Provide timely and accurate escalations to the MAP Managers that arise during the work day.

● Coordinate, produce and provide MAP Deliverable FOT documentation in coordination, and approval of CE Delegate (holding the correct delegations) assigned to the aircraft.

● Provide initial aircraft Installation Troubleshooting guidance within the MFT’s (for example belly fairing installation).

● Prepare a global endorsement sheet and ensure Aircam Mods are signed by the Chief Engineer and MAP delegate before FOT.

● Perform other duties as assigned and adapted to the department needs.

Additional Responsibilities:

● Capability to develop “light” Chief Engineering delegations for A320 Aircraft Family Classification and Endorsement of Standard Delta 3 Items

● Provide mentoring for new team members

Your boarding pass:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or aircraft construction engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • 8&43; years relevant experience in an Engineering, M.E or engineering coordination role. 

  • Relevant experience is in the field of aeronautics, Engineering or Industrial Planning.

  • Knowledge of Aircraft Electrical, mechanical system and Cabin installation design (e.g. bracket design, ESI and MSI definition and installation, equipment installation)

  • Knowledge of Airbus Design Principles (electrical, mechanical and Cabin/Cargo Installation)

  • Basic knowledge of stress calculations and justifications (For installation purposes)

  • Knowledge of materials, standards, electrical bonding and corrosion protection

  • knowledge of Aircraft configuration management rules

  • Knowledge of AIRBUS internal procedures, processes and tools

  • Experience using AIRBUS manuals (Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Wiring list, Illustrated Parts Catalog etc.)

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in solving engineering problems

  • Ability to function on the basis of self-motivation and self-direction

  • Willing to travel up to 15 of the time overseas and domestically within the Airbus international network, supplier and customer sites.
