This position is for an on-site Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op who will join the Manufacturing support team at the Collins Aerospace Manchester, Iowa facility for the Spring/Summer 2025 session. 

Manchester is the Center of Excellence in the manufacture of Avionics Commercial and Military Cockpit Displays! In this roll you would receive a good balance of design and hands on problem solving. See how Engineers are able to solve problems internally or work with outside services to come to solutions. If you are a self-starter and interested in learning what happens in a electronics manufacturing site this may be for you. What You Will Do:

  • Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

  • Working along side Industrial Engineers, production floor operators and manufacturing support staff, to resolve product flow, quality, ergonomic or safety issues associated with state of the art manufacturing techniques.
  • Develop or Improve designs of fixtures or tooling to improve or aid in manufacturing products as well as build, verify, and implementing those fixtures.
  • Identify root cause of manufacturing defects, process inhibitors and implement effective correction action measures.
  • Program and run Laser Machine, 3D printers and several other manufacturing equipment to develop fixtures.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

  • Systems in which Aerospace Manufacturing Environments must operate and navigate
  • Prioritization and balancing work load of multiple projects
  • What it is like to be an engineer in industry

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run January - July/August; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past August 2025.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Proficient knowledge of SolidWorks Modeling
  • Experience with VBA or other scripting languages
  • Experience with 3d Modeling or laser cutting

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
