Manufacturing Engineer II (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Piper Aircraft is seeking a qualified and motivated Manufacturing Engineer II to contribute to our aerospace manufacturing team. As a Manufacturing Engineer 2, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, and supporting the overall success of our aircraft production. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in aerospace manufacturing and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Collaborate with senior engineers to research, evaluate, and select capital equipment and processes for manufacturing enhancement.
Operate and troubleshoot advanced capital equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to quality standards.
Assist in identifying and resolving material and manufacturing challenges, contributing to process improvement initiatives.
Contribute to the optimization of work sequencing and workflow through machines and work centers.
Support "make versus buy" decisions to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.
Assist in coordinating outsourcing efforts and maintaining relationships with external vendors.
Participate in conceptualizing and developing tooling and fabrication designs for aircraft components.
Contribute to the development and implementation of Manufacturing Engineering policies and procedures.
Stay informed about the latest technologies in aerospace Manufacturing Engineering.
Provide data, budgeting information, and project updates to the engineering team.
Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) for layouts and line flow improvements.
Collaborate on the implementation of approved facility changes with various departments.
Support workflow, capacity, quantitative, and throughput analyses.
Assist in cost analysis efforts and maintenance of relevant charts.
Collaborate with machine operators, management, and vendors to facilitate effective communication.
Contribute to the application of Lean Tools (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis) and monitor their effectiveness.
Participate in Kaizen events and support others in facilitation techniques.
Contribute to the measurement and analysis of Lean implementation results.
Support problem-solving initiatives throughout the organization.
Collaborate on training initiatives for plant staff in Lean tools and implementation.
Assist with other related duties as required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. May be required to train and assist other employees.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Avionics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
Two to four years of progressive engineering experience, with exposure to aerospace manufacturing preferred.
Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD), Unigraphics NX, Microsoft Project, and Office.
Experience using calipers, micrometers, and measuring equipment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The role may require moderate physical effort, consisting of occasionally lifting and/or moving light to moderately heavy-weight material.
The employee will be exposed to both an office environment and a manufacturing environment with elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, or some element present which makes conditions less desirable than usually found in an office. Travel and overtime may be required when necessary.
