ABOUT THE ROLE
As a member of the Materials Engineering team at Honeywell Aerospace, you will support Aerospace level functional groups in electronics assemblies, sealants, coatings, adhesives, chemical processing/plating, and engineering substantiation/source approval. You will apply experience with non-metallic, metallic and electronics in creation of existing, new and innovative products. You will materials knowledge to influence teams that solve various materials challenges.
This is an Aerospace Technologies - Materials Engineering position located at the Honeywell Aerospace site in Minneapolis, Minnesota. You will report directly to our Sr. Electrical Engineering Manager and will work 100 on-site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Aerospace Special Process team in Chemical Processing and Coatings
- Materials Engineering support for PCNs and ECNs
- Coordinate materials validation and laboratory testing for process application properties of raw materials and parts for Production and Receiving Inspection
- Coordinate failure analysis of adhesives, coatings, sealants, metals, electronics components, sensors and printed board assemblies
- Maintain process/material specifications and inspection procedures
- Support process development, materials selection and characterization for New Product Development
- Recognize processing history in various materials and explain meaning of the results to colleagues
- Utilize hands-on experience with various aerospace materials leading engineers and technicians to solve process challenges with strong team and project leadership skills
- Supplier development and qualification of chemical processing, plating, paints, sealants/adhesives, conformal coating, and printed board assemblies.
- Collaborate with suppliers to readily understand their challenges, articulate robust guidance for solutions, and effectively relay supplier experience to the Honeywell designers for improved manufacturability
- Develop strategic relationships with adjacent engineering and business organizations to achieve Honeywell objectives
The annual base salary range for this position is $78,400 -$108,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a generalguideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer,including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position,the candidates work experience, education and training, key skills, as well asmarket and business considerations.
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
- 2-3 years experience demonstrating electronics processing expertise mixed with process development, problem resolution and design requirement definition
- 2-3 years experience developing materials solutions and/or problem-solving complex materials challenges
