Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) has an exciting opportunity for a driven and ambitious future leader. MPC growing due to high customer demand and needs a New Product Introduction Project Engineer. In this position the qualified individual will have the opportunity to lead cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, purchasing, etc. to implement new products across a variety of pumping and gear box technologies.  As part of the project management role a successful candidate will be responsible for managing the schedule & budget as well as maintaining constant communication to the team and management.  Additionally, the role requires a strong understanding of the fundamentals of machine design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and structural dynamics.    Furthermore, this role will have the opportunity to make a direct impact on the speed of bringing new products to spanet.

What You Will Do

  • Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
  • Lead efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate effective Project Management by understanding, organizing and managing resources so that a project is completed within defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints.
  • Estimate and track project budget and schedule utilizing EVMS decision making.
  • Pursue cost saving opportunities to maximize project profitability.
  • Provide technical support for piece part supplier change verification.
  • Consolidate and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
  • Liaise between project management/value stream leaders and planning, project teams, and production line management as necessary to support plant output.
  • Lead and support less experienced engineers within the team.
  • Support Quality investigations as necessary when piece-part issues affect product deliveries.
  • Understand, optimize, improve, and execute test procedures.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report out test results.
  • Verify internal processes are being executed to reduce probability of engineering setbacks.
  • Read and interpret drawings, provide span ups, and coordinate drawing releases.
  • Develop disposition and substantiation for stocked and delivered hardware.
  • Oversee and coordinate the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
  • This schedule for this position is Monday – Friday from 8AM-4:30PM. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3-5 days on site a week, to be determined with your manager upon hire depending on business needs.
  • Travel required up to 10, both domestically and internationally.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here:  https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering.
  • Active Security Clearance
  • Demonstrated leadership in planning and executing the design and development of aerospace rotating equipment.
  • Experience working on multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with cross functional teams across department and business units.
  • Pump or mechanical geartrain design experience.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
