The Systems Engineering (SE) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

The Land Warfare and Missile Defense Systems (LWMDS) is looking for a Systems Engineer II to join the LWMDS team.  LWMDS supports all aspects of Systems Engineering that facilitate the development of complex systems to support various Raytheon programs around the world. The LWMDS department supports Raytheon by cultivating a world-class group of systems thinkers who work together as a team to architect technical solutions to some of the world’s toughest problems. Key technical domains include Radar Systems and Sensor Netting, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, Battlespace Integration, and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers.

The National Team- Systems Engineering and Integration (NT-S) program’s System Engineers define, characterize, and develop and document MDS capabilities through work in several areas of systems engineering.

This position is an onsite role located in Huntsville, Alabama.

What You will Do:

• You will assist in architecture and requirements development activities that define, characterize, develop, and document Missile Defense System capabilities such as;
  • Architectural framework updates
  • System-of-system functional and performance requirements
  • Change notices
  • Interface control documents
  • Technical papers and briefings
  • Performance models
  • Complex requirements traceability efforts.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

• Typically requires a Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of two (2) years of Systems Engineering in the following area; 
  • Engineering experience in one or more Missile Defense Systems domains such as C2 Battle Management, sensor simulation development, directed sensor tasking, multi-phenomenology processing, or Kill Vehicles
• Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. 

Qualifications We Prefer: 

• Advanced degree in STEM
• Systems Engineering experience in one or more elements of the Ballistic missile defense system such as Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, or countermeasures
• Experience in one or more of the following System Concepts & Requirements areas:
  • System architecture
  • Requirements development and traceability
  • MBSE development
  • Performance requirements development through modeling and simulation
  • Specialty engineering requirements development
  • DOORS
  • CAMEO

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
