What You Will Do:
Pratt and Whitney’s Advanced Casting organization is in need of a 1st shift Operations Engineer at it’s East Hartford, CT facility in the Rapid Prototype Casting Lab (RPCL) foundry, team consisting of 35 employees. Our mission is to develop the technology and processes to manufacture advanced castings for turbine engines. These castings are enabling materials that increase the temperature capability and improve the durability of jet engine components. Through successful development of these castings, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight, and more durable for commercial and military applications. The Operations Project Engineer will be facilitating with a team in a fast paced and dynamic environment to meet customer delivery, quality, and cost requirements by planning, organizing, and directing work related projects and initiatives. Responsible for helping keep a safe work environment, lead various CORE improvement projects, capital and PM planning and execution, and rapid response to process engineering requests and anything to facilitate part movement in the shop. This role requires daily interaction with the engineering, shop, and maintenance teams to have clear focus on accountability for results.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Execution of engineering and capital projects
- Identification and spec out new capital items
- Collaborate with teams to identify and solve operational issues.
- Identify production errors, analyze with quality data to implement solution.
- Assist with training staff on new procedures
- Assist with system/programming updates
- Work cell layout and optimize part flow/processing.
- Support PM and break down completions for all equipment.
- Document/update operation procedures and policies.
- Identify and implement automation and tooling to increase efficiency and reduce manual processes.
Basic Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree with 5 years of related experience.
- Production, operations or manufacturing experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a foundry.
- Troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
- Mech/Mfg/Industrial Engineering experience in the aerospace/defense industry
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Power BI and Access) and/or SAP.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
