Northrop Grumman is in search of a Principal / Senior Principal Electronics Engineer to join our team in Rolling Meadows, IL. The qualified applicant will become part of the Northrop Grumman Specialized Tactical Electronic Warfare Systems (STEWS) team, where they will work on a variety of electronic equipment and systems that include airborne RF and IR systems, laboratory test stations, and transportable flight line electronic combat system test sets.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and components which are part of EW systems.

  • Produce, modify, and maintain technical data and documents (e.g. design documents, Bill of Materials (BOMs), white papers, etc.)

  • Support technicians and field service engineers through troubleshooting and training.

  • Periodically travel to support scheduled test and integration or modification requirements at the customer’s domestic locations.

  • The successful candidate will be collaborative and team oriented.

  • The candidate may be selected based on knowledge and experience in RFEW or communication theory and concepts, or signal processing.

**This position can be filled at a Principal or Senior Principal Electronics Engineer role.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Electronics Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or related technical field and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience in electronics engineering or Master of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or related STEM field plus 3 years of experience.

  • Working knowledge in RFEW or radar theory and concepts

  • Working knowledge in digital signal processing

  • Experience with RF test equipment (digital oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators)

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer facilities at domestic locations.

  • Must have an Interim Secret Clearance or higher.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or related technical field and a minimum of 9 years’ related experience in electronics engineering or Master of Science degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or related STEM field plus 7 years of experience.

  • Detailed knowledge in RFEW or radar theory and concepts

  • Detailed knowledge in digital signal processing.

  • Experience with RF test equipment (wideband RF/microwave signal generation and analysis).

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer facilities at domestic locations.

  • Experience with developing and mentoring engineers.

  • Proven ability to drive complex technical problems to closure.

  • Proven ability to lead projects to product delivery.

  • Must have an Interim Secret Clearance or higher.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in RFEW and/or radar signal processing

  • Working knowledge of VHDL design, Matlab, and Simulink for Software Defined Radios

  • Proficiency with digital, analog, RF test equipment, RF circuit theory and digital systems.

  • Experience in programming in C++, National Instruments Labwindows/CVI and/or Labview

  • Experience presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel.

  • Active Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
