OnsiteThe Materials Engineering group supports the the material development, supplier quality and sustaining function, that assists multiple areas of the business (e.g. Technology development, New Product Introduction, Production processes, Supply Chain, Business Development, Customer Support, etc.) on a daily basis. The Materials Engineering function requires a unique skill set, including chemistry and chemical engineering specialties or experience in polymer science, composites, elastomers, urethanes, cements, adhesives, yarns, fabrics, surface technology and joining of metals. This blend of materials engineering skills focuses on these materials and processes to provide the ice protection performance that has made Goodrich Ice Protection Systems a world leader. The Materials Engineering function is considered a core competency of the Ice Protection BU. Materials Engineering is also responsible for REACH, RoHS, EH&S while creating and maintaining the intellectual property and the trade secrets of material recipes used in Ice Protection Systems.

What You Will Do:
- Provide composites and structural adhesives solutions to enhance performance of products and support New Product Development efforts for Ice Protection, Specialty Heating & Potable Water Solutions
- Provide support to the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Sustaining organizations via reformulation or by leading and/or assisting cross-functional teams with troubleshooting activities, materials selection, and process improvements
- Develop and execute test plans to validate material properties, processes, and design robustness to service-life conditions
- Plan and facilitate the transition of material supplier changes, locations and processing methods
- Facilitate Design Assurance, Qualification, Materials strength and processing capability, and First Article Inspection builds
- Summarize and document test findings in accordance with Collins Aerospace procedures
- Support Corporate Global Chemical Compliance initiatives, such as REACh and RoHS, by ensuring current and future materials meet or exceed regulations. Reformulate materials as needed for compliance

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant industrial experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of industrial experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of industrial experience with aerospace composites
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Proven track record with materials development, processing and testing of aerospace composites (e.g., epoxies, urethanes, surface preparation, etc.).
- Proven track record of utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools (such as DOE and SPC) to drive experiments and decision-making.
- Proven track record of polymer or composite material test method development to validate application suitability and long-term reliability.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- B.S. or M.S (preferred). in Materials Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
- Proven track record of using DFMEA and PFMEA, in order to develop test plans, drive continuous improvement, and solve problems, using tools such as RCCA.
- Familiarity with using JMP or Minitab statistical software.
- Knowledge of thermoplastic composites preferred.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
