Principal Software Engineer - Advanced Technology (Onsite)
Description:
Looking for problem solvers, creative thinkers, collaborative, disciplined and self-motivated engineers. As part of Microelectronics engineering group, which is a sub-group of Mission Systems, we develop and build communication and aviation electronic solutions. Our team is looking for a motivated, disciplined, experienced SW system architect principal engineer. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for managing the Fab data management and process control systems. In addition, the candidate is expected to lead and collaborate with other stakeholders (Value Stream Leaders, operations personnel, product engineers, SW engineers) in the evaluation, the execution, and the implementation of the system.
What You Will Do:
- Successful applicant will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing and maintaining of complex integral software and hardware systems for the microelectronic Fab.
- A successful applicant is expected to bid, plan, and manage the software development effort, including cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
- A successful applicant will be responsible for defining system specifications that are aligned with the Fab digital goals and or architectural standards.
- Successful applicant is expected to architect and recommend solutions which meet Fab requirements, include data collection and analysis tools, and are consistent with enterprise roadmaps.
- Successful applicant is expected to lead and to mentor engineering team on ways to build scalable and efficient systems
- Successful applicant is expected to provide direction on solutions to system related technical issues, in establishing a roadmap to address short- and long-term challenges and bottlenecks.
- Successful applicant is expected to work with other Mission Systems leaders to secure the staffing and other resources to ensure project success
- Successful applicant’s main focus will be on Collins’ Z-Fab 3D microscale fabrication manufacturing capability
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Ability to implement and test desktop and web applications
- Exposure to software engineering tools, including version control and debuggers
- Proficient with SQL, Python, and databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- Ability to write user friendly macros to pull data for analysis.
- Experience with standard full lifecycle software development practices and configuration management tools
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in working closely with microelectronic fabrication environment.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of data analytics or statistics
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, preferably in the Collins processes (DPT-C, ISAT, SAP)
- Experience working across divisions including R&D, product IPT, test equipment, and operations

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
