Principal Systems Engineer – Visual Products (Onsite) *DoD Secret Clearance Required*
Position Description:
The candidate will be the day-to-day representative of Collins Simulation Visual Products for internal and external meetings in a classified environment on a large, long-term program, while liaising with the rest of the Visual Products Systems Engineering team based primarily in Salt Lake City, UT. The candidate will report to a manager based in Salt Lake City, coordinate extensively with the Visual Products Manager based in Salt Lake City, and be tightly integrated with the Systems Engineering and Project Engineering teams onsite in Sterling. Strong communication skills and the ability to work autonomously are an absolute must!
The candidate shall possess strong Systems Engineering skills and be responsible for managing requirements, updating plans and documentation, preparing presentations to senior internal leadership and customers, and will meet with customers on a recurring basis. The candidate shall possess a solid technical base and shall be trainable to operate and perform minor maintenance on visual products. Prior experience with image generators, visual display systems, or other simulation products are a big plus, though not required. The candidate shall be comfortable splitting time between classified and unclassified environments, and current clearances are highly preferred. This is a high-visibility role with promotion upside for strong performance.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Outstanding communication, teamwork, organization, and presentation skills.
- Experience with Systems Engineering processes and documentation, such as requirements management in JAMA, DOORS, or similar, and maintenance of planning documentation.
- Strong conceptual, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- U.S. Citizen with Active Secret Security Clearance or higher, or active within last 24 months.
- Ability to travel 10 of the time
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Knowledge of core concepts of simulator visual systems, such as image generators, display systems and/or databases.
- A formal degree or certificate in Systems Engineering.
- Direct experience with JAMA, DOORS, or other requirements management software.
- Strong computer skills and the utilization of MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio.
- Experience with programming languages, such as Python or C++.

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
