Job Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer - Solutions to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for the continued development of an advanced, leading-edge, hybrid software system providing excellent technical guidance and team communication. As the Principal Systems Engineer – Solutions, you will function in a technical lead role in a SAFe Agile development environment and will effectively work and communicate with all levels of Program Leadership, Engineers on the Program team, and the customer. This position is for Richardson, Texas.
What You Will Do:
- The Systems Solutions engineer will be responsible for contributing to the technical planning and capability / feature designs, and technical detailing for the product development teams.
- The System Solutions engineer will also work on a cloud solution, where parts of the system will be on the Cloud environment and other portions remain on a hardware environment
- The System Solutions engineer is required to have strong working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, cyber security, software design and architecture for the cloud
Basic Qualifications (Required):
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Requirements derivation, capability development -analyze complex requirements and determine viable solutions
- Design and specification experience, CONOPS development
- 4 yrs Minimum Engineering experience on a large-scale distributed software system
- Experience defining acceptance criteria for capabilities that can be detail designed and developed by external teams
- Understanding and extensive experience conducting design and/or modeling activities
- Experience decomposing customer epics into capabilities that can then be decomposed by the development teams into actionable features for development
- Interpret customer needs and convert them to achievable requirements or capabilities
- Adaptable to unexpected changes, analyzing impact, and communicating to stakeholders
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, OR an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience, OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- DoDAF experience using Architecture Frameworks such as DoDAF for definition of large systems with complex integration and interoperability challenges
- Experience developing MBSE and DoDAF operational views for overview and details aimed to specific stakeholders within their domain and in interaction with other domains in which the system will operate
- AWS cloud experience - AWS cloud technology knowledge and implementation
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience, as a System Engineer or working directly with in such roles
- Experience using modeling resources and methodologies like Cameo, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, etc.
- CompTIA Security + Certification – Linux
- Experience with the Cloud technologies and Cloud migration, Containerization and databases, Automation (Build, Deploy, Test)
- Experience using Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), and evaluation of COTS / FOSS applications
- Knowledge of project management

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
