Northrop Grumman Missions Systems is seeking experienced engineers in the following areas: Antennas, Electromagnetics, Computational Electromagnetics, RF/Microwave design and Software development. The qualified candidate will join a team working toward advanced optimization algorithms that leverage high -fidelity Computational Electromagnetic (CEM)-based simulations.
Responsibilities may include algorithm development, software maintenance, performance modeling, GUI & Control development, and more. Experienced applicants will have experience with high-fidelity CEM-based simulations, mixed fidelity techniques (high frequency to full wave methods), time domain methods.
We are looking for an individual that would like to pursue an exciting and rewarding career in compact range and RF test measurements. This would include:
- Strong emphasis of hands on integration and troubleshooting
- Learning compact range theory, analysis and test methodology
- Working with and understanding mixers, multiplexers, RF couplers, LNA’s, attenuators, RF sources, receivers, positioner controllers, beam controllers, programable power supplies
- Candidate must be proficient in MATLAB analysis.
The position would requires long-term shadowing of an upper level Technical Band Engineer for at least 8 months to 1 year. The function would be to learn, and absorb the knowledge transfer to help build our organizations skillset of individuals proficient with compact antenna range I&T. This individual would also be exposed to work that involves:
- How to create statements of work (SOW) for vendors
- Lead compact range production test and integration development with a long term goal of supporting multiple programs
- Possible offsite integration and travel to customers sites with a team to integrate developed test
- Travel varies between 5 days to 2 weeks per year, but generally not more than 8 weeks a year.
This role can be filled either at the Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer level.
Basic Qualification Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer:
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 5 years of experience in the areas described in the job description. 3 years of experience with a Masters Degree and/or 0 years of experience with a PhD. An additional 4 years experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
- Familiar with Visual Basic Studio (VBS), Visual Basic (VB) and C-Sharp.
- Additional knowledge of electronic lab test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscope, Network Analyzers (PNA(X)), Digital Multi Meters, etc.
- Active Secret Clearance required.
Basic Qualification Senior Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer:
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 9 years of experience in the areas described in the job description. 7 years of experience with a Masters Degree and/or 4 years of experience with a PhD. An additional 4 years experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
- Familiar with Visual Basic Studio (VBS), Visual Basic (VB) and C-Sharp.
- Additional knowledge of electronic lab test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscope, Network Analyzers (PNA(X)), Digital Multi Meters, etc.
- Active Secret Clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- TS/SCI
- Experience using MATLAB
- Familiar with Antenna radiation pattern collection. In particular, the acquisition of radiation patterns via the NSI2000 or MI3000 platforms.
- Familiar with NF to FF transformation of antenna patterns.
- Familiar with the antenna characteristics that are acquired from radiation patterns (Gain and/or ERP from Rx and/or Tx applications, Beamwidth, SLL, Directivity, PoB).
- Familiar with antenna/RF coordinate systems and plotting (U, V; Theta, Phi; Azimuth, Elevation; X, Y).
- Familiar with antenna/RF applications based on bandwidth.
- Experience with documentation generation to include writing Test Procedures, Test Plans, Test Description Documents, Test Reports, and Requirements Assessment.
- Experience with generating input to engineering milestones related to Test Readiness Reviews, and Data Reviews for Pass/Fail Criteria assessment.
This role is contingent upon candidates having an Active Secret Clearance
Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
