What You Will Do:

At Pratt & Whitney, MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) is a key component of our Operational Excellence Playbook and our quality improvement process within Operations. MRL is Pratt and Whitney’s method to industrialize new products and technologies in a standardized way that allows us to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets. This is an exciting time to join our team and help the company meet our customer and shareholder commitments.

Execution of MRL elements to drive process control will dramatically improve the company’s quality and delivery signature. The Product Manufacturing Engineer II will be responsible for specific part or part family MRL advancement through the execution of MRL elements such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plan & Gage R&R. The scope of this role will include both Pratt & Whitneys internal shop and supply chain components.  

  • Drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple process steps that spans the full value stream of parts.

  • Drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance; lead projects to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance; identify & implement process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs /escapes and reduce overall product costs.

  • Work wih product development/engineering to enable implementation of design for variation (DFV) and robust design methods (DFSS).

  • Use statistical analysis tools to perform Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product; fully document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations and recommendations.

  • Lead targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost curves and Qualification plan.

  • Work with senior management to schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation of MRL gate advancement.

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or closely related technical or physical science discipline with a minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, project management or similar industrial environment

  • Experience using Microsoft Office

  • Secret Clearance OR be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Engineering degree (mechanical, industrial, aerospace, manufacturing)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt

  • CORE/ Six Sigma Practitioner/Professional certification; understanding of other continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.

  • Experience leading and managing a portfolio of cross functional projects

  • Experience using Minitab and other statistical software;

  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
