Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide consultation and technical direction to the engineering community on near term and long range projects with substantial business impact.
- Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions, and problem resolutions.
- Support other GE businesses, suppliers, and internal / external customers.
- Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, develop, and apply technology to current and future business opportunities.
- Provide safety engineering support and leadership to teams working on development and mishap prevention initiatives.
- Leverage expertise to investigate and lead problem resolution in the field or during manufacturing processes.
- Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools
- Function as program manager when appropriate.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
- Develop and implement training modules, as necessary.
- Lead Safety Program Management Team meetings and participate in enterprise level safety meetings.
- Serve as fire safety consultant to NPI programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 3 years of experience in an aviation safety and/or engineering position.
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain/maintain a US DoD security clearance.
Desired Characteristics
- 5+ years of experience in an aviation safety and/or engineering position.
- Gas turbine engine experience.
- Mishap Investigation or accident investigation experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills
- Masters degree
