V2X is seeking an engineering development Project Engineer I supporting the Weapon Systems Integration (WSI) team program area in Indianapolis. The Project Engineering discipline leads dynamic and multidiscipline development team(s) within the WSI product line. V2X hires innovative thinkers wishing to work on tactical defense solutions recognized around the world.

The Project Engineer will join our Project Engineering department in Indianapolis, IN, leading the development of various air-based systems.

The Project Engineer I will support all phases of the development process, working across disciplines to support the development of technical solutions and supporting a multi-discipline team, which includes Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering functions, as well as other disciplines such as Production, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance. The Project Engineer will work in a fast-paced environment providing technical leadership to design, develop, and deliver products to support the lifecycle of the program. The Project Engineer supports the development of project plans and drives the team to a solution that meets technical requirements and cost targets.

The Project Engineer I will support the coordination and organization of the technical project team, including the ability to ensure all disciplines on the program execute within the established program budget and schedule. The Project Engineer coordinates the development of spend plans, staffing plans, the project schedule, and the program organizational chart. The Project Engineer I will support the creation of the project backlog, write user stories, and support management of releases for Agile Projects.

The Project Engineer I will support project reviews, supporting the creation and presentation of program cost, schedule and measurement data to business leadership and customers. The Project Engineer will also participate in Program Review preparations, supporting the program manager in the development of program review data for business leadership.

The Project Engineer I will support proposals within the WSI Program areas. This includes supporting the assembly of engineering estimates, supporting Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and supporting the writing and review of proposal volumes.

Project engineering is a specialized field within engineering that focuses on planning, executing, and managing complex projects. It combines technical expertise with project management skills to successfully achieve project objectives. Project engineering ensures the technical management processes of a project are implemented and achieved to the level of rigor required by the project. Technical management processes are used to:

  • establish and perform technical plans for the project,
  • manage information across the technical team,
  • assess technical progress against the plans for the system, products, or services,
  • control technical tasks through to completion,
  • aid in the decision-making process.
Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Job Requirements:
Requirements Management, IV&V experience, and life cycle management of projects.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain project plans. This includes leading and coordinating project tailoring.
  • Ability to Monitor and measure performance of the project.
  • Ability to become proficient in Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Ability to gain or current US Government Secret Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Windows.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project and scheduling practices.
  • Basic understanding of reading and comprehending drawings, specifications, and other technical information.
  • Desired Skills:

    • Organization of project teams to manage issues throughout the development life cycle of the project.
    • Technical leadership capabilities, including the ability to lead the resolution of tough technical challenges.
    • Experience with traditional and Agile teams.
    • Experience creating/managing Backlogs in Azure DevOps or similar.
    • Proposal development experience ·
    • Ability to maintain high performance in a highly dynamic, team-based environment.
    • Ability to assimilate inputs from multiple sources and derive operational requirements.
    • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
    • Proficiency using CREO or other CAD programs.
