The Communications Hardware department is looking for a dynamic Project Engineer to lead a talented, cross functional team of engineers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As a Project Engineer, you will be the central engineering contact for development projects, providing project management in alignment with directives from the Value Stream Leader, Program Manager, Engineering Leadership, and our customers.

- YOU will oversee and coordinate the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines
- YOU will direct all phases of programs from inception through completion
- YOU will be a liaison between project management and planning, project teams, and line management
- YOU will monitor and assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives
- YOU will record and document delay, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth project operations.
- YOU will prepare proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract
- YOU will be responsible for guiding engineering development in accordance with the Collins Management Systems, Engineering Process, requirements, budget, and schedule
- YOU will develop and monitor project plans, prepare reports, schedules, and budgets for small to mid-size projects and suggests appropriate adjustments to ensure adherence to the established project plan, schedule, and budget
- YOU will work with group managers to ensure that the project is appropriately staffed
- YOU will identify resource issues and works with group management to resolve, escalating to department management if needed
- YOU will support Technical Risk and Opportunity mitigation tasks
- YOU will be responsible for procurement of appropriate development hardware used for testing and development
- YOU will provide input to the integrated master schedule for projects
- YOU will conduct meetings, consolidates, and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the projects
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and less than 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
