The Technical Project Manager - Engineering Product Development undertakes project management and professional engineering work in conjunction with other project team members to ensure that products and systems are efficiently developed and perform as intended to meet customer and business requirements.
Reporting to the Associate Director Engineering you will work with both internal and external stakeholders in a transdisciplinary manner to ensure that the product being developed will meet all customer requirements and be delivered on time and within budget with all elements of the system able to perform together as intended.
The oversight requirements and work to be performed includes tasks to Analyse, specify, design, verify and validate the system to ensure that its functional, interface, performance, physical, and other quality characteristics, and cost are balanced to meet the needs of the system stakeholders.
Key responsibilities of your new role include.
- Undertake the project management function and lead the technical development team by coordinating the engineering tasks and activities required, Typical project management tasks will include:
- project planning and coordination,
- task estimation and management,
- resource planning and task allocations,
- schedule development and management,
- project risk management,
- project financial management,
- management and review of earned value metrics,
- project issue management,
- project change management,
- project reporting, and
- planning and management of project deliverables.
- Review and approval of project and technical documentation as authorised.
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Follow company procedures and customer requirements and use a systems engineering approach and agile techniques to plan and execute engineering activities to meet cost, quality and schedule objectives.
- Professional personal presentation in communication as well as collaborating proactively with key stakeholders including Systems, Hardware and Software design functions in-country and across international teams.
- Lead and champion the development of new design approaches, techniques and technologies as well as process and quality improvements to support continual improvement.
Skills, attributes and experience:
Essential
- Qualifications (B.Eng, B.Sc) with Project Management and Systems engineering experience in the engineering design and development of systems/products involving the engineering development of both hardware and software components as well as system integration.
- Demonstrated ability to represent company for systems engineering at internal and external customer meetings
- Strong leadership skills and experience delivering a high complexity program involving engineering change proposals.
Desirable
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering complex, high technology products involving software, hardware and integrated systems.
- Proficiency in Systems Engineering, including open systems architecture and secured cloud-based technologies
- Experience as a Senior Systems Engineer involved through the entirety of systems development, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, plus verification and validation through to the transition to production; ideally in Defence industry environments.
- Familiarity with engineering development in an agile and DEVSECOPS environment.
This position will require the ability to travel in-country or overseas where required. Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
