Overview
Kamatics, a division of Kaman, is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality team at our Bloomfield, CT facility. The Quality Engineer will plan, conduct and monitor a wide array of activities pertaining to our quality control systems, processes & procedures. This role will help the organization stay compliant to our quality, customer & regulatory bodies evolving needs, keeping suppliers on track as well as serving internal customers & stakeholders.
You will have a hand in customer, internal and 3rd party audits and will ensure compliance with standards, recommend dynamic solutions, identify potential process issues and assist in the upkeep of quality documentation. You will be a key contributor to our corrective action processes, both tracking results and coordinating meetings. Strong written and verbal communication is a must and will help in evaluating the effectiveness of Quality programs and concerns to management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Investigate the data collected from the process to define any weakness in the current system and develop ways to continually improve the system to minimize variation and waste.
- Investigate all return, scrap, and rework related issues so that root cause and solid corrective action(s) can be implemented to avoid future occurrences.
- Update work instructions and provide training of the operators/inspectors to ensure that process parameters are being met and that everyone in the process understands their roles and requirements.
- Maintain and improve processes through routine auditing and data collection.
- Develop systems that will help improve the current processes.
Additional responsibilities:
Some additional responsibilities will include the development of new QC systems, audits and strategies and to help forecast upcoming industry trends. Knowledge of AS9102, AS9100, Prime customer QC standards (Boeing, Airbus, Collins) strongly preferred but not required. This exciting role will offer the opportunity to work with multiple part families utilized on different QC programs and will directly support aviation safety.
- Lead root cause investigations on any internal or external non-conformances. This may include 8D, 5 Why, DOE, or other similar methodologies to find the true root cause of problem.
- Be able to take charge in putting together meetings and/or workshops to determine the causes that lead to the problem/complaint and find effective measures to prevent recurrence of the issue.
- Assist Quality Team with Internal/External (including regulatory) audits and to perform quarterly as well as end of year audit overview of the internal audit process.
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineers, VSMs, and Team Leaders to develop solid corrective actions to eliminate the nonconformance identified. (Corrective actions must include some mistake proofing to prevent reoccurrence).
- Work pro-actively on the prevention of non-conformances and product variation by creating systems and have the ability to introduce these into the process and monitor results for effectiveness.
- Monitor key process parameters (such as rework and scrap) to isolate problem areas and correct the potential for escapes and waste prior to it happening.
- Work well in a team environment but have the ability to work independently when required.
- Strong communication skills using verbal, written, or electronic media. Have the ability to design and explain concepts and requirements to those with less training and background & be willing to instruct.
- Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures / programs and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
- Lead and coordinate MRB & MRB walk activities and communicate results to the Quality Team and associated Value Stream.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Engineering or Quality preferred.
