The Mission Systems Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a motivated and driven Engineering Intern to join our team in our Marlborough, MA location.

The department supports customers for Land, Sea, and Airborne Programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats. You will be exposed to exciting, meaningful, and technically challenging assignments within a growing business. As a Radio Frequency / Electrical Engineering Intern, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. Your work can support development of next generation systems, design enhancements and upgrades for existing products, and transition to production efforts. Product areas can include RF circuit card assemblies, Frequency converters, amplifiers, hybrid digital / RF circuits, reflector-type antennas, and phased arrays for communications systems.

What You Will Do: 

The Radio Frequency / Electrical engineering will be a hardware team member and will become familiar with the following areas:

  • Keysight Advanced Design System (ADS) RF design software
  • PWB design using ADS or Mentor Expedition, which will include schematic capture and PWB layout
  • 3-D Electromagnetic Simulation using CST
  • Hardware Design and Documentation Updates
  • RF Test and Evaluation, including use of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators, etc.

  • PWB manufacturing process
  • RF test equipment functions
  • Resolution of Hardware performance issues,
  • System Qualification Test and Troubleshooting


Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U. S. Citizenship:  this position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.  Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.  This position requires a Person eligible to obtain any required U. S. Export Authorization.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Prior familiarity with RF Design
  • Proficient knowledge in use of Microsoft Office Products
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates history of working well in a team environment

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with ADS or similar RF Design software
  • Technical experience through prior internships

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
