Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, development, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a lead engineer for a full time position in the Systems Engineering Organization.

Scientist- Systems Engineer will be located at our Sacramento, CA facility to support development testing on controllable solid rocket motor programs. This position reports to the Manager, Systems Development & Verification Engineering.

Essential Functions:

  • 60 - The candidate will be required to operate with minimal supervision and direction. The candidate will be supporting and in some areas, leading controllable solid rocket motor development test programs, including system integration, system development & verification planning, test planning, testing in various environments, system and subsystem test, test equipment & facility coordination, test article assembly coordination & hardware assessment, instrumentation requirements and coordination, test readiness review & risk assessment and verification & test report documentation.
  • 30 -Travel in support of offsite testing as required.
  • 10 - Provide guidance, coaching and training for junior employees across the company in area of expertise.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance is required.
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person.

Preferred Additional Skills: 

  • Experience in altitude test facility operation and controllable solid rocket motor development testing is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership competency and solid communication skills, in both verbal and written are required.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $147,000 - $273,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
