The Sr. Associate, Project Engineer performs and/or coordinate propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under general direction, implement design and analysis tasks and oversee special studies and experiments. Coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead.
Essential Functions:
- Intermediate professional with practical knowledge of job area.
- Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area.
- Communicates with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures, identifies and addresses changes within own job area.
- Works to achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results.
- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
- Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents.
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
- Understanding and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
- May be assigned Earned Value Management duties.
- Travel up to 10.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related engineering experience.
- Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related engineering experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Two (2) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects.
- CAD knowledge.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
