Job Description SummaryThe Senior Chemical Process Engineer with be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. This individual will identify process optimization opportunities, and drive technical problem solving. They will also qualify new processes in the Plant and will be a key technical resource supporting the manufacturing processes. They will introduce new processes and products (NPI’s) at the manufacturing site. This position plans and conducts work and/or formally leads horizontal teams on moderate complexity projects/ programs. This position Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team and has significant input into priorities. Roles and Responsibilities
- Investigate and analyze ongoing operational activities to eliminate systemic deviations and to optimize processes.
- Lead or participate in investigations, root cause analysis and resolution of incidents and non-conformances.
- Introduce new processes and products (NPI’s) at the manufacturing Site.
- Apply technical experience and expertise in materials science & chemistry/ chemical engineering to complex systems and utilize data analysis to support recommendations.
- Recommend approaches utilizing best practices to meet program/ project needs.
- Lead/ participate in Management of Change, Pre Start-Up Safety Reviews and Process Hazards Analysis processes.
- Develop, maintain and implement, as needed, PSM, RMP, and GE Aviation policies, procedures, standards, and related goals, objectives and action plans.
- Participate in the development and review of equipment and systems for capital projects to help ensure compliance to applicable requirements, standards, and codes.
- Participate and support chemical equipment and system management in developing goals, objectives, action plans and KPI’s.
- Use multiple internal and external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions, leveraging experience to make cross-process linkages.
- Explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in Ceramics Engineering/ Materials Science & Engineering/ Chemistry/ or Chemical engineering)
- Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience

- Masters or PhD degree from an accredited university or college in Ceramics Engineering/ Materials Science & Engineering/ Chemistry/ Chemical engineering or related discipline.
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in Ceramics Engineering/ Materials Science & Engineering/ Chemistry/ Chemical engineering or related discipline
- >8 years of ceramics / chemical industry related experience.
- Significant domain expertise in the theory and practice of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and related balance of plant.
- Experienced with PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management) processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, communicate and execute programs.
