Job Description SummaryAs the Senior Engineer - Electric Machine Design you will be a key member of the Hybrid-Electric team within GE Aerospace. You will work on exciting projects like the next generation single aisle aircraft propulsion system with hybridization (RISE) or the next generation hybrid regional propulsion system (AMBER).

Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the electric machine design for hybrid-electric aerospace applications
- Perform analysis for electric machine designs and their integration into propulsion systems
- Collaborate with interfacing disciplines of electric propulsion design and test
- Support the electric drive concept development for hybrid applications
Required Qualifications
- MS in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar field
- Profound experience on electrical machines, including significant industrial experience
- Deep design experience in permanent magnet generators/motors. Understanding of different disciplines like electromagnetics, thermal, mechanical, and manufacturing
- Proven expertise in electric machine design and modelling tools, e.g. ANSYS, Matlab/Simulink, Python as well as CAD (Computer Aided Design)
- Proven leadership in safety of electrical/mechanical systems through both certifications and hardware experience
- Experience in validating electric machine technology through prototyping and laboratory testing
- Familiarity with converter duty and high voltage electrical insulation for electrical machine applications
- Familiarity in system integration of electric drives
- Proven system thinker with ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Superb communication and presentation skills, written and verbal
- Ability to guide teams and suppliers, plus self-manage workload across a number of projects
Desired Characteristics
- Ph.D. in electrical or mechanical engineering or relevant field
- Excellent team player. Experience in working in a global team.
- Strong industry and research network in the field of electric drive development
- Familiarity with relevant state-of-the-art electric machine materials
- Development experience along the product lifecycle, from R&D to product introduction
- Aerospace and certification experience. Familiarity with relevant standards
- Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement. Self–directed and motivated
