Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes to meet performance goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves spending approximately 80 of work time on the production floor and 20 in an office environment, actively driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead process improvements to meet key performance metrics in safety, quality, throughput, productivity, and cost reduction. Utilize statistical analysis, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, and engineering principles to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Assemble cross-functional teams to analyze root causes of production issues, implement corrective actions, and monitor results to ensure ongoing performance improvement.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing teams to manage and streamline all production processes, aiming for maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
- Define production sequences, inspection criteria, tooling, gauges, and fixtures to ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and reduce machine downtime, scrap, and delinquencies.
- Support the planning and execution of capital improvement projects to achieve cost savings and increase throughput.
- Partner with finance and materials management to maintain accurate manufacturing costs, process routings, and bills of materials.
- Train production staff on best practices, production procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
- Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers to enhance process reliability, lower costs, and secure high-quality materials.
- Provide technical expertise to resolve production issues and ensure continuous improvement in product and process quality.
- Stay current with technological advancements and process innovations that could improve manufacturing operations.
- Work closely with maintenance and manufacturing teams to ensure equipment is properly set, maintained, and calibrated to produce high-quality products consistently.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Promote and foster a "Safety 24/7" culture by driving safety initiatives to prevent accidents and ensure a zero-incident environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in machining (e.g., Header, Roll Former, Chucker, CNC, Traub, Point, Shave, etc.).
- Proficiency in process improvement methodologies; Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles and tools, including root cause analysis, demand flow, process design, bills of material, and Value Stream Mapping.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety regulations, and operating procedures; effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid mathematical skills, including the ability to perform basic algebra and geometry in manufacturing applications.
- Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills, with the ability to execute written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions effectively.
- Competence in reading blueprints, router instructions, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
- Results-driven with a strong ability to meet deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and QAD.
Experience with inspection equipment such as micrometers, comparators, and dial calipers

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $103,900 to $140,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
