Collins Aerospace has recently secured some larger and long-term funding that will allow us to mature the specific technology to higher Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) on a path to fielding.  This product is in the information/data security space and requires a security clearance on day 1.   

The Secure Information Systems Department is seeking a Senior Principal Firmware (FW) Lead to help grow a new and exciting secure system product line. The qualified candidate will have extensive embedded software experience with a deep knowledge of firmware operations which drives the interfaces.

This position requires onsite presence in McKinney, TX. An active Secret security clearance is required prior to the first day.   

The FW Lead Engineer is the quality authority tasked to drive defect detection to the left of the systems engineering V model. Maintainability and scalability are priorities in the product’s design to ensure agility and to reduce time to spanet to meet our customer’s ever-changing requirements. This individual has a proven history of pushing teams toward new and innovative processes, tools, and a quality focused culture. This lead engineer is a technical leader whose roles and responsibilities include requirements derivation, architecture, and design, implementing agile processes and tools, leading bids and proposal work, and working across the engineering functions to achieve program objectives. 

What you will do

  • Drive the architect, design, develop, integrate, and test secure processing solutions across all products in the portfolio. 

  • Promote, mature, and grow the application and use of DevSecOps for the product line. 

  • Promote, mature, and grow the application and use of MBSE for the product line. 

  • Maintain FW quality. 

  • Support the training and growth of the FW team on the product line and ensure best practices are adhered to. 

  • Support the FW architect, as well as the Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, and Business Development on new business pursuits. 

  • Implement FW capabilities as required.

  • Must have the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with other team members and customers.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires 10 years or greater of professional relevant experience

  • Advanced experience with system security concepts and designs 

  • Advanced experience with developing software in Xilinx SDK or Vitis 

  • Advanced experience with deploying software on FPGAs and SOCs 

  • Experience with ASIC design 

  • Experience with TCP and UDP Ethernet protocols 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government DoD Secret Clearance is required prior to start date

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualification we prefer

  • Strong experience with application multi-threading 

  • Strong experience with DevSecOps and MBSE 

  • Experience with Peta Linux 

  • Familiar with development of device drivers 

  • Knowledge in developing architectures and design of complex systems 

  • Supporting development projects from concept through implementation and integration

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
