The Open Communications Systems (OCS) organization within Collins Aerospace, is designing communications systems for Next Generation technologies across a wide variety of platforms. 

We are hiring a Senior Principal Radio Frequency (RF) Electrical Engineer to create and support RF systems in OCS.  You will be part of a team of dedicated engineers creating new and exciting technology.  You will be working on rapidly developing technologies in a variety of applications and environments.  You will be integral to the design process from conception to production and will be a central contributor to major project designs.  This position is located onsite in Fort Wayne, IN.

What You Will Do:

  • Create and maintain RF and EE related systems and subsystems.

  • Adapt and refine designs to meet customer specified requirements

  • Create verification and testing protocols to ensure that all requirements are being assessed throughout design

  • Provide RF/EE technical expertise for integration, troubleshooting, and failure investigations.

  • Lead and participate in technical discussions, perform analysis trade studies, plan scope of work for new designs, and execute plans to implement RF Designs. 

  • Lead conversations with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in one or more of the following technical domains:

    • RF Sensor sub-systems requirements, integration, and verification

    • Systems engineering, architecture, and/or design

    • System performance and analysis

    • Algorithms and signal processing

    • Electronics(circuit card assemblies, subassemblies, complete systems) requirements, integration, and verification

    • Configurable Logic / Firmware / VHDL architecture, design, development, integration, and verification 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics

  • Current/Active security clearance

  • Experience using Agile framework development methods/processes

  • Experience using Azure DevOps methods/tools

  • Experience with Matlab, C, C, C++, Python

  • Past work experience in a challenging fast paced environment

  • Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance

  • Familiarity with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures

  • Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle

  • Familiarity with system safety, reliability, or mission planning

  • Experience evaluating and mitigating technical risks

  • Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations

  • Strong communication skills

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
