The successful candidate will design electrical control systems, specify data acquisition control hardware, design LabVIEW based software for test equipment, participate in estimating budgets and schedules, lead equipment verification & validation efforts, and support delivered test equipment within the Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) division of Collins Aerospace. The test equipment is utilized for production, R&D, and qualification testing of cutting edge military and commercial aerospace products including fuel pumps, air turbine starters and blowers, engine and air frame gearboxes, and lube and scavenge pumps
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement new process and standards for large scale LabVIEW architecture including goals, constraints, frameworks, modules, communications mechanisms, functional subsystems, and error handling to meet requirements and Standard Work
- Develop, maintain, and update LabVIEW based software for test equipment in Windows, FPGA, and Real-Time OS environments
- Develop and implement new process and standards for utilizing NI cRIO, cDAQ, and PXI hardware solutions
- Establish LabVIEW coding best practices including well documented, scalable, maintainable, and modular code based on common design patterns such as QMH and State Machines
- Define and implement databases and LabVIEW interfaces
- Troubleshoot and debug legacy LabVIEW code
- Work on cross-functional teams which may include Product Development Engineers, Sustaining Engineers, Program Managers, Quality Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Operations Managers to define and prepare confidential test equipment proposals including specifications of proprietary hardware or software, equipment design documentation, schedules, and budgets.
- Lead test equipment activities including design, build, assembly, checkout, verification/validation, and commissioning
- Utilize lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies in manufacturing, testing, and transactional processes to drive improvement in quality and test efficiency.
- Develop performance, maintenance, and calibration requirements for test stands and equipment.
- Participate/lead peer reviews of specifications, designs, and concepts for test equipment, components, and systems.
What You Will Learn
- You will learn in-depth knowledge of fuel pumps, air turbine starters, blowers, engine and airframe gearboxes, and lube and scavenge pumps, including their functions and how they get tested.
- You will learn how to manage projects from inception to completion, focusing on developing multimillion-dollar test stands and equipment, including project planning, execution, and delivery.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- U.S. (non-dual) citizenship is required, as only U.S. (non-dual) citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Must have had or currently have CLA and CPI.
- Demonstrable Experience with NI FPGA, cRIO, cDAQ, and PXI hardware platforms.
Qualifications We Prefer

- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, air compressors, motors, VFDs, torque sensors, temperature controllers, flowmeters.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
