The Senior Project Engineer, Electronics & Controls is responsible for full execution of development, design, and certification, as well as supporting production and afterspanet for all assigned hardware. This includes detail planning and execution to assure that all critical program milestones are met and identifying the team resources required to execute the detailed component plan through design, development, manufacture, qualification, and entry into revenue service. The Project Engineer has the unique opportunity to lead the strategy, development, design, production, and certification testing of advanced digital control systems both in the field and under development.

What You Will Do

  • Engineering activities associated with design, development, procurement, testing qualification, and production support for the Windsor Locks based Digital Controls Product Line.
  • Provide technical and functional leadership for assigned systems, components, projects, teams, and tasks.
  • Manage assigned budgets and identify and report any issues or changes in scope.
  • Plan and maintain detailed schedule and resource plans.
  • Lead Technology Development programs guiding products through Technology Readiness Level process.
  • Lead all Test activities to prove out components and/or understand field issues.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Standard Work and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Present to Engineering and Program Management as well as Customer representatives.
  • Coordinate with customers (Internal and External) and suppliers.
  • Lead/guide Root Cause and Correct Action (RCCA) activities.
  • Benchspan similar hardware and review customer needs to strategically drive System and Hardware development.
  • Manage tasks while still delivering on expectations.
  • Ensure engineering competing and technology excellence.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or  an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with digital electronics, flight controls, or software/electrical components.
  • Experience working in a team environment in a matrixed organization.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management.
  • Experience with project planning and scheduling tools (Microsoft Project).
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • PMP, CAMP or other Project Management Certifications a plus.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
