Job Summary

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible to coordinate and monitor the design, development and testing of switch-mode power conversion equipment. This role will manage a wide variety of projects and electrical design activities of varying scope and scale, including schedule development and maintenance, generation or EAC, ETC and other program metrics, milestone creation and tracking, and subcontract documentation deliverable management. 

As Senior Project Engineer, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)
  • Project management of a wide variety of electrical design activities of varying scope and scale
  • Ensure design compliance with all project requirements
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and lead a project team to develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Assist in the creation and management of ILS requirements, including technical manuals and other supporting documentation
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments including EAC, ETC and milestone reports and schedule performance
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
  • Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
  • Lead a project team or teams as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
  • Other duties as assigned
What you require to be successful in the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with 5 or more years of experience in electrical design in a light manufacturing environment
  • 5 to 10 years of project management experience
  • PMP or equivalent designation is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with the application of military and commercial standards to electrical designs is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of project management tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Recent experience using MS Project, MS Access would be desirable
  • Strong electrical aptitude
  • Excellent technical writing, planning, and project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills and is able to set and achieve goals and objectives
