Job Description SummaryThis is a great opportunity to join GE Aerospace as a Reliability, Maintainability and Testability (RM&T) Engineer, known internally as a Senior Through Life Engineer.
As a Through Life Engineer, which operates from within our Safety and TLE team, you will be responsible for leading Through Life Engineering tasks for safety critical systems in both civil and military aviation platforms as well as potentially the renewables and industrial sector as we continue to branch out beyond our Aerospace roots.
As we are a combined team of System Safety and TLE Engineers, there will be an opportunity to learn and develop across both closely related engineering disciplines.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
As a Through Life Engineer, you would be responsible for providing RM&T support to programmes across the whole product lifecycle, whether that be directly, or providing mentoring to build up team capability and you will work towards becoming a technical signatory for TLE related documents.
The team is regularly involved in Bids and Proposals from concept generation and is building increasingly strong links with the product support, field support and in-service reliability teams which gives a rare opportunity to provide support to programmes from cradle to grave. As part of this role, you will help shape what those relationships look like.
Required Qualifications
An appropriate degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Electronics, Applied Physics or similar subject, or equivalent experience, and shows a logical mindset, alongside good problem solving and solution building skills.
Experience of performing the reliability analyses that form part of our TLE assessments, such as Reliability Prediction, FMEA, Maintainability Analyses, etc, the standards that drive those analyses (e.g. MIL-HDBK-217F) and the limitations of those standards.
Experience of the systems design lifecycle will help you in activities such as capturing, understanding and documenting the customer’s system through life requirements.
Desired Characteristics
Previous experience in an aviation, automotive or similar embedded systems development environment is helpful as it demonstrates understanding of working to rigorous industry mandated development standards; for example, ARP4754A and ARP4761. This shows a knowledge of working with complex system designs, for implementation in hardware and software.
An understanding of the System Safety Assessment Process (e.g. in accordance with ARP4761, MIL-STD-882 or Def-Stan 00-56) and how the quantitative safety analysis processes interact with the reliability analyses.
