What You Will Do
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced, proactive, and goal-oriented Senior Manufacturing Engineering Master Black Belt (P6), located in Holt, MI. The role will lead deployment and execution of the process control sub-discipline within key operational organizations for the Fan Module Center (FMC).
The Master Black Belt will be responsible for assisting the organization in developing a vision, strategy, roadmap and supporting infrastructure for the integration of data driven decision making and Lean/Six-Sigma methods into daily business practices across operations, engineering, quality and business functions. The position will be used to advance manufacturing and engineering at both the Pratt & Whitney AutoAir facility in Holt, MI and Pratt & Whitney Manufacturing Singapore.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the organization’s employees in variation reduction and process control proficiency by coaching, mentoring and coordinate execution of required training – Green Belts, Black Belts, Master Black Belts and Champions.
Work with senior management project champions and other Black Belts (Including other Master Black Belts) to:
Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and ACE/CORE initiatives.
Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure sign off on Formal Gate reviews. Use scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.
Ensure technical quality of variation reduction and process control projects. Identify gaps in project execution and engage appropriate resources to address either knowledge gaps or execution gaps to ensure projects deliver intended results.
Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance
Represent the organization in various forums related to Process Certification/Six Sigma approaches. Develop standard work, procedures, and integrate industry-standard best practices.
Coordinate development and publishing of Success Stories.
Communicate lessons learned to:
Product development/engineering to enable implementation of design for variation (DFV) and robust design methods (DFSS).
Other operational organizations for read across implementation.
Travel on occasion (10-20) to local suppliers to provide guidance and support to ensure quality adherence.
Qualifications You Must Have
Advanced degree and 10+ years of experience in Program/Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Quality experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience; OR Associates degree and 14+ of relevant industry experience; OR High School / Tech School diploma and 16+ relevant industry experience.
Must have a recognized ACE/CORE Expert, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
5+ year of leading process improvement projects and managing changes.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.
Qualifications You Must Have
Degree in STEM field; Engineering or Business fields preferred.
Demonstrated ProCert/Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience.
Demonstrated proficiency leading and managing a large portfolio of cross functional projects.
Capable of influencing and getting cooperation and action from others.
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), work and relate with people at all levels of the organization and be self-sufficient.
Effective team player, good coaching skills and can develop other co-workers.
Ability to encourage and motivate others to be successful.
Excellent knowledge of MS office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Able to use Minitab and other statistical software.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics.
ACE/CORE/6 Sigma Master/expert level certification.
Strong understanding of other continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.
The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
