We are seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person must be comfortable working with a team of top-notch developers and collaborating with our engineering teams. We’re looking for people who innovate and love solving hard problems. Key job responsibilities
As a senior Interdisciplinary System Engineer, you will define, develop, test, and deliver solutions for Prime Airs Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) subsystems.
• Break down and frame problems using CONOPs, use cases, structural/functional decomposition, and other system representations to clarify needs and align technical teams
• Drive and prioritize execution of system test campaigns that span lab and field-testing environments in collaboration with subsystem development and test teams
• Develop and communicate system integration and evaluation strategies and plans in support of program learning, technical risk reduction, verification, and validation
• Perform technical risk assessments, devise mitigation plans, and create system test strategies
• Propose changes to the system architecture and allocations across multiple sub-systems and components that improve system performance and robustness
• Build quantitative models and analyses (Excel, MATLAB, Python) to conduct trade studies, refine requirements, and understand key system drivers across the integrated systems of systems
Job Requirements:
- B.S degree or equivalent in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in systems engineering
- 2+ years of experience in the design, integration, and testing of GNC systems
- Knowledge of software engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware development life cycle
- Experience communicating with management, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe, product features, and technical designs- Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in systems engineering
- 4+ years of experience in the design, integration, and testing of GNC systems
- Familiarity with RTCA-DO178 standards
- Knowledge of fundamental aerodynamics theory
- Ability to model and understand signal processing and/or physics-based dynamics
- Experience with simulation (software/hardware in-the-loop)
- Strong mathematical/statistical fundamentals
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic spanets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic spanet up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic spanet. Pay is based on a number of factors including spanet location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
