Mission of the Job

Working with multi-disciplinary teams to support the software development of Airbus Italia products and studies, the role requires: looking after projects, industrial activities and R&D studies. Hence, in perspective, continuous improvement and self-discipline are requested.

Main activities

As part of the team working to support the software developments for Airbus Italia Space and Airborne products, the target primary tasks and activities will include:

  • Design and development of software products targeted at both software embedded systems and OS based systems;
  • Conceive and design software solutions based on the customer/projects requirements;
  • Management of the complete software life-cycle (requirements definition, architecture design, development, coding and testing) depending on the specific project needs;
  • Working on multi-disciplinary teams as software expert and/or developer to support the project needs;
  • Support research and development activities for the software aspects

Education/Training:

  • Desirable: Master’s Degree in Electronic (Telecommunication, Software) Engineering, degree achieved within maximum 6 years study course, with top score;
  • Essential: University degree in computer science or equivalent qualification

Experience:

  • Desirable: Experience (4÷6 years) in complex software projects  (analysis, design and development) for Space and/or Avionic market;
  • Essential: Experience in software development

Tool or product requirements:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to generate innovative solutions and propose them;
  • Pragmatic and product/results oriented approach;
  • Familiarity with design and technological aspects specific to the development of software for space and/or airborne applications;
  • Familiarity with ECSS and/or RTCA DO-178C software standards;
  • Very good knowledge of the following aspects of software development:

    o    Programming languages: C/C&43;&43; (bare metal and operating system based programming), Java, Python, Matlab;

    o    SW development IDE: Eclipse, MS Visual Studio;

    o    Networking: TCP/IP, UDP;

    o    Software Modelling: Sparx Enterprise Architect

    o    UML, OO design and design patterns

    o    Source code management systems

    o    Software testing

    o    Databases

  • Knowledge of the following software related technologies is considered an asset:
  • Programming patterns: multi-threading;
  • Coding standard: MISRA;
  • SW libraries: QT;
  • SW development IDE: MPLAB X (Microchip).
  • SW test: VectorCAST (Vector), SonarQube,
  • Automatic SW testing: Jenkins
  • Requirements tool: IBM DOORS
  • CAN: PeakSystem USB-2-CAN adapter (PCanView SW)
  • Configuration control: Git/GitLab.
  • Microprocessor: ARM-Cortex and x86;
  • Microprocessor knowledge: interrupt logic (ISR), SRAM/SDRAM interfacing, DMA, cache memory logic;
  • Programming patterns: producer/consumer pattern (FIFO), server/client, real-time;
  • Standard interfaces/protocols: CAN (CANOpen), Space Wire (ECSS-E-ST-50-12C), RMAP (ECSS-E-ST-50-52C), SPI, JTAG/SWD (basic knowledge), UART
  • Laboratory instruments: oscilloscope
  • Basic knowledge of standard Project Management techniques and tools is considered a plus.

Languages:

  • English (fluent in technical and non-technical, written and spoken);
  • Italian (intermediate in technical and non-technical, written and spoken).
