Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineer to join a growing team in Newport, RI working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center that is designing, constructing, and delivering the next generation of undersea warfare Training Systems to the Fleet. Your focus will be on designing, implementing, testing, and delivering components of the Training Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, development and update of software solutions and frameworks to enhance the functionality and efficiency of US Navy submarine training systems.
- Modernize existing software architectures to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Implement robust, scalable, and efficient microservices to handle complex data processing and distribution tasks.
- Develop and maintain APIs for high interoperability and security between various training systems components.
- Collaborate with system architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, define specifications, and guide system design decisions.
This requisition is open as a dual level opportunity. We will consider candidates at a level 2 or level 3:
Basic Qualifications:
- Level 2: Bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience or a Master’s degree with 0 years’ experience.
- Level 3: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years experience or a Master’s degree with 3 years’ experience.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and design of object-oriented applications, unit testing, debugging, and installation.
- Fluency in C++ or Java.
- Working knowledge of RHEL/CentOS Linux environment.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Work on site Newport, Rhode Island
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with submarine tactical systems.
- Proficiency working in RHEL/CentOS Linux environment.
- Working knowledge in software architecture and design of object-oriented applications, unit testing, debugging, and installation.
- Knowledge of Virtualization solutions such as:
- Working Knowledge of Qt.
- Experience using version control software (e.g. Git, Bitbucket).
- Familiarity with Agile programming principles and Kanban framework.
- Navy junior officer experience.
Salary Range: $83,300 - $124,900
Salary Range 2: $102,400 - $153,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
