Sr. Acoustic Systems Design Engineer

$69.24-$87.19/Hour
Senior Acoustic System Design Engineer job in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania is available with Moseley Technical Services Top Maritime & Strategic Systems (MSS) company. In this job you will be responsible for the design and development of submarine (VA Class, Columbia Class, SSN(X)) and other undersea vehicle acoustic systems and directly contribute to the technical and production success of our programs through hands-on technical contributions, leadership and management of an engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop acoustic systems for submarine programs driving technical and production success.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the development and production of sonar transducer/array systems across all phases, including research, design, manufacturing, testing, and documentation.
- Conduct R&D experiments to explore materials and improve their properties for underwater acoustics.
- Lead the preparation of proposals for transducer/array system development.
- Oversee the manufacturing and quality control processes to ensure systems meet required specifications.
- Perform testing and analysis on acoustic materials, including stress testing and data interpretation.
- Solve complex problems related to materials performance, array housings, and producibility.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop materials for specific applications.
- Manage projects, including timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring successful delivery.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen with Ability to Obtain Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or STEM and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
- Expertise in modeling electroacoustic transducers/arrays, integrating them with relevant electronics, and conducting experiments in labs and at sea.
- Experience generating new sensor designs
- Experience specifying ceramics and production of shapes
- Development and test of individual sensors (such as Tonpilz) and systems with multiple sensors
- Formal acoustic testing and data analysis
- Strong knowledge of technology trends and R&D experience in underwater acoustics.
- Proven leadership in managing design teams for complex projects.
- Project management experience, including handling technical and programmatic communications with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Experience in acoustic/vibration analysis for submarines and other undersea vehicles.
