Job Description:

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

SR. OPERATIONS ENGINEER (STARLINK PRODUCTION)

SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 4M+ users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact. As we continue to upgrade and expand the constellation, we’re looking for best-in-class engineers to join the team.

As the Starlink manufacturing strategy evolves to support commercial scale volumes, we must develop a cohesive quality system to effectively manage signals from production to drive improvements through the design phase, supply chain, and operations. We are actively looking for candidates that can help develop and implement system tools that will drive efficiency and improvement across all aspects of the production lifecycle. This position requires a combination of proven leadership and technical capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of data analytics and manufacturing operations, with the desire and capability to take on new challenges in unfamiliar areas to help enable our mission to Mars.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the design, planning, and execution of special projects to enable the startup of new production areas or major improvements to existing production areas
  • Manage and drive improvements to core production processes that are critical to production success (production targets planning, change management, metrics reporting, etc.)
  • Develop tools to analyze delivery, capacity, cost problems for production, supply chain, and operations to guide decisions
  • Identify operational challenges within the organization, determine root cause, and develop appropriate solutions
  • Identify and document all project milestones and deliverables keeping alignment on project plans across the Starlink organization
  • Actively develop system and process improvements within and between production elements
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental partners in supply chain, engineering, operations, and accounting groups to synchronize efforts
  • Capture best practices of production systems, and manage organizational knowledge and lessons-learned
  • Motivate and support peers to achieve program goals
Job Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical projects
  • 2+ years of experience using Excel, SQL, or Python/R for analysis or modeling dynamic systems

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with interdisciplinary project management across many departments. Interdisciplinary engineering fundamentals and multidisciplinary project execution is the key to success in this role
  • Experience creating key performance indicators and driving analysis/action off of these indicators
  • Experience as an industrial, operations, process or manufacturing engineer in a developmental manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and visualization
  • Experience developing and presenting concise engineering summaries to drive decision making
  • Prior experience with the full hardware product life cycle
  • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision and on schedule
  • Excellent written and communication skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Senior: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year
