The position exists to create, refine, and maintain Bal Seal products (seals, springs and connectors) and manage projects associated with customer inquiries important to the growth of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Executes design activity in accordance with established design policies and procedures
- Creates custom seal designs which meet customer and industry expectations with high quality solutions
- Specifies material and test requirements that allow consistent performance for meeting customer expectations
- Prepares proposals based on application data provided by sales department and/or the customer
- Works with product engineers to identify standard designs best suited for adaptation, and identify improvements or adaptations in accordance with design policies and procedures and establishing material and test requirements for those designs
- Employee must be ready, willing and able to travel (at times Internationally) on short notice. Travel time away is typically one work week or less
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering Field
- Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years Engineering design experience, working preferably in the component realm
- Seal design experience
- Medical device design, oil & gas, aerospace/defense, and industrial experience preferred
- Project/Product Engineering experience
- R & D Engineering experience
- Application Engineer experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Minimum 5 years Engineering design experience (in a component manufacturing environment)
- Strong Computer skills. Agile, JD Edwards (E-1) and Microsoft Office Suite
- FEA modeling (via Solid Works) preferred
- Effective verbal and written communication skills is required (must have ability to communicate at all levels C-Suite to factory floor)
- Familiarity with customer NRE negotiation & management a plus
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams to peers so as to manage projects to a successful conclusion
- Have the ability to operate in a deadline-driven, dynamic, fast paced environment
- Ability to communicate cross-culturally
- Ability to write SOWs (Statement of Work proposals) as well as specifications for capital equipment (typically used in testing, etc.)
