Job Description SummaryThis Staff Evaluation Engineering Engine Owner role (SPB3) is for GE Aviation’s Small Commercial Engine Programs. The Evaluation Engine Owner manages development engine(s) and rigs through requirements definition, hardware instrumentation, engine assembly, site integration, & test execution. Evaluation Engineering is the conduit for all assembly, instrumentation, and test requirements. This role will leverage multiple GE systems to facilitate customer requirements to doing organizations. The Evaluation Engineer creates and maintains engine and overall program schedules. This role works inclusively and horizontally with Instrumentation, Design Engineering disciplines, Component Test Sites, and others. The candidate should possess strong communications and horizontal leadership skills in order to help guide other members of the team.
The focus of this role will be experienced contribution to Next Gen programs (including ADNB, NGNB, and Hybrid) test plans.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Leads Test and Assembly organizations to high quality and on time delivery of test data to support program test plan targets.
- Understands and approves test and assembly requirements definition. Provides alternate solutions to best meet the needs of the test and advises on risks associated with chosen plans. Evaluation Owner in Test Vehicle Tollgate process.
- Provides engineering support and expertise to ensure engines are assembled and tested to satisfy current, issued engineering definition.
- Determines the specific expertise needed to execute on test requirements and coordinates resources and schedules to meet requirements.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.
- Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- At least 5 additional years of experience in an aerospace or engineering position
- Ability to travel out of state minimum 10 annual
- Ability to support off-site test locations in Ohio (Dayton, Peebles, etc) minimum 50 annual
