Job Description SummaryThe Advanced Technology Organization, Thermal System Design Staff Engineer will report to the GE Aerospace Evendale site Thermal Manager and be responsible for the design and execution of advanced cooling techniques for the next generation applications. In this role, you will participate in thermal design, support, and validate engine demonstration. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of engineering organizations and contribute to the development of the engine systems and designs. You will contribute to technical maturation of state-of-the-art hardware, improving existing products, and resolving manufacturing issues with mechanical design engineers.Job Description

As a Staff Engineer - ATO Thermal Systems, you will:
- Participate throughout the design process to analyze and influence the rotor, stator, and/or component cooling designs from the design phase through certification.
- Perform thermal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis in support of new engine designs and fielded products.
- Implement lean standard practices applicable to thermal design.
- Recommend productivity improvement strategies to advanced cooling thermal designs.
- Ensure proper documentation in a timely manner following all engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status updates to relevant leadership team members.
- Present or review key technical review presentations to ensure engineering excellence.
- Actively participate and support various technical community meetings & activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or closely related field of Engineering.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant thermal design experience.
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to heat transfer or fluid mechanics preferred.
- Prior experience in the fundamentals of heat transfer and compressible flows.
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
- Experience with fluid flow & heat transfer analytical software.
- Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
