One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department is seeking a Staff Systems Industrial Engineer / Manufacturing Planner to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.
Staff Industrial Systems Engineer / Manufacturing Planner Responsibilities:Create factory floor models, develop capacity planning models, validate master scheduling and prediction accuracy.
Setup and integrate factory planning tools for a manufacturing organization.
Utilize capacity models to create wafer start plan for fab loading.
Identify shortcomings in capacity models for the factory floor as well as adapting to changing needs in an R&D manufacturing environment.
Design, collect data, analyze, and compile reports on a variety of WIP in a high mix environment.
Leverage capacity models to create roadmap for future capital equipment requirements and report to senior management.
Evaluate impacts of process changes to capacity models.
Build and implement tools to evaluate manufacturing efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement.
Optimize capacity of fab equipment by performing fab wide and tool specific optimization studies.
This position requires full time work onsite at our Linthicum, MD OR Annapolis Junction, MD location.
Basic Qualifications for Staff Industrial Systems Engineer / Manufacturing Planner:
Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience, a Masters degree with 10 years of experience or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 7 years of experience.
Has worked in a semiconductor or microelectronics fab in operations or a factory planning organization.
Strong skills in problem solving / troubleshooting.
Has experience in planning activities involving production control, inventory control, process control, or shop floor control / Material Resources Planning (MRP).
Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required.
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications for Staff Industrial Systems Engineer / Manufacturing Planner:
Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance per business requirements.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in industrial engineering or operations research
Experience in semiconductor manufacturing lines and / or R&D microelectronics manufacturing.
Has worked with Applied Materials APD / Real Time Dispatch (RTD) products.
Strong skills in data mining, data analysis and critical thinking to aid in troubleshooting scheduling issues.
Understands how factory planners use simulation and advanced analytics tools to perform WIP scheduling in automated fashions.
Has worked with Applied Materials SmartFactory Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) solution.
Experience in modern programing languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.).

Salary Range: $157,500 - $247,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
