Northrup Grumman is currently seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to support our Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) missile program with our talented Advanced Weapons team. This position is located in Northridge, CA. and will be an on-site position.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the full systems engineering lifecycle of missile / weapon system development program(s) and leading at least part of that lifecycle. They will also have the technical depth on one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry/communication, and airframe. This candidate will work directly with the program’s Chief Engineer and Program Execution Manager and collaborate with the various IPTs to ensure the design and development of the different subsystems and the integration of those are technically sound, on budget, and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
• Establish and manage change to the system technical baseline; ensure technical baseline meets functional and performance requirements for the SiAW system.
• Support the CE and PMO in the current status, issues, and challenges with system / subsystem integration and test.
• Evaluate, coordinate, and de-conflict cross IPT design constraints, changes, and issues as it relates to engineering budgets and schedule.
• Support tiger teams to aid engineering execution across the lifecycle of the program
• Ensure proper engineering rigor across engineering design activities via process, and documentation/modeling practices (IAW Functional Best Practices and Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP)).
• Provide subject matter expertise and technical ownership of critical system functions that cross multiple subsystems.
• Review system/subsystem design documentation and models for technical correctness and completeness.
• Effectively communicate the SiAW weapon system technical baseline to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the establishment and communication of technical roadmaps, for the SiAW weapon system, that lead to a system the meets the End State system performance; identify and coordinate R&D pursuits for technology developments via Contractor Research and Development with the customer and Non-Contractual Technical Activities (NCTA) and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) necessary to achieve the system End State.
• Maintain coordination with the other relevant programs in regard to the technical content that will be re-used and leveraged by the SiAW missile.
• Provide support to the Risk and Opportunities Management Board and the resulting risk mitigation and opportunity capture actions.
• Provide leadership in regard to Digital Engineering, Agile Processes, and Open Systems Architecture; foster team and program opportunities to maximize open communications and improve overall team performance and production.
• Works with PM, CE, and IPT leads to develop IMS for technical tasks.
Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available.
Basic Qualifications:
• **Active DoD Secret Clearance.
• Be able to obtain clearance to Special Access Program (SAP).
• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of twelve (12) years of engineering experience; will consider Master of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience.
• Have technical depth on one or more of the subsystems of missile/weapon system, e.g., RF/sensors, guidance, navigation, control, telemetry/communication, flight termination system, power/battery, airframe.
• Experience in Systems Engineering Technical Review process and acceptability criteria.
• Experience in leading complex system/subsystem design, integration, test, and/or verification.
• Experience in leading/coordinating the design of defense/weapon system(s).
• Experience in defining and tracking technical tasks from program schedule (e.g., integrated master schedule).
• Experience in leading in an integrated product team organization.
• Experience in effective communication with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active DoD Secret Clearance with periodic reinvestigation within the last five (5) years
• Experience leading/coordinating the development, integration, and test of missile systems.
• Experience in leading complex system/subsystem requirement, design, integration, test, and verification.
• Experience with systems designs with Model-Based Systems Engineering.
• Experience in Weapon Open System Architecture (WOSA).
• Experience in digital engineering.

Salary Range: $165,000 - $247,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
