OnsiteAs a Structural Certification Engineer reporting to the Certification Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation safety and innovation. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the rigorous FAA certification process for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. This involves spearheading cutting-edge research, meticulous planning, and executing complex certification procedures to ensure that every seat meets the highest standards of safety and performance. What you will do:
- Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design decisions.
- Represents the Certification and Structures team in design reviews.
- Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to commercial aircraft OEMs and regulatory agencies.
- Reviews and approves design changes from a certification perspective.
- Supports design optimization tasks (e.g. weight reduction).
- Leads test activities such as Static and component level testing.
- Participates as the certification representative as part of the integrated project team for various engineering projects.
- Responsible for the development and preparation of test plans, reports and other the communication with regulatory agencies for specific compliance showings.
- Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
- Participates in definition of the engineering approaches and the planning/execution of the necessary certification work for the First Class and Business Class Seating Products Teams.
Qualifications We Prefer :
- Ability to perform classical stress analysis.
- Familiarity with strengths of standard aviation materials.
- Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors.
- Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
- Familiarity and/or experience with structural finite element analysis (FEA) methods and modeling applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.
- Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and engineering related software programs.
Qualifications you must have:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
