PURPOSE:

Assure Wyman-Gordon&39;s Quality systems and procedures satisfy government and customer requirements, and assure compliance of product shipped to contractual requirements. Responsible for overseeing the QA relationship with the Wyman-Gordon Grafton and Dillion conversion suppliers. Involves working with all Grafton and Dillion departments to understand and improve working practices that assure that suppliers meet customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. Ability to travel 50 of the time is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Build reliability into Operations equipment and processes
  • Identify and implement process & safety improvements
  • Point of point of contact with customers, regulatory, and government agencies on quality related issues, and audits
  • Identify and analyze supplier risk through on-site supplier visits, audits, assessment tools, analysis of scorecard data, and projects.
  • Create and execute development plans with suppliers to address gaps, mitigate risk, and drive supplier performance improvement (quality, delivery).
  • Lead process improvement teams and quality investigations through corrective and preventative action initiatives, focusing on suppliers.
  • Implement standard industry problem solving and risk mitigation tools with our suppliers, including PFMEA and 8D.
  • Work closely with suppliers to educate them on Wyman-Gordon requirements, and customer flow down requirements.
  • Analyze rejection reports through Pareto analysis and track critical indicators through statistical process control charts.
  • Evaluate product cost of quality changes in relation to supplier defects.
  • Work with the Outside Conversion Department to participate in supplier risk analysis and scorecards, to improve supplier performance.
  • Evaluate existing and new outside processing and laboratories sources to ensure that they meet our compliance requirements.
  • Create, write, and amend work instructions, fixed practice procedures and control plans.
  • Develop and maintain Grafton and Dillion Processing Specification documents with Suppliers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To act as an auditor for Grafton and Dillion internal QA audits.
  • Participate in SOX control testing, as required.
  • To participate in and, in some cases, lead, performance improvement activities, such as FMEA, process control and control plans.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS minimum, MS, or 3-5 years of experience in quality related functions preferred
  • SPC&92;Process Controls Experience
  • FMEA
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and teamwork across functional boundaries
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of forging processes is preferred
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and familiarity with conducting AS9100 audits is preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to convey technical and conceptual material to individuals at all levels in customer organizations as well as within Wyman Gordon.
Proficiency at multi-tasking.

  • Able to solve complex issues, mental concentration for sustained work periods, patience and leadership.
  • Ability to travel 50 of the time
