Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Sustaining Equipment Engineering Manager for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.  

Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry provides unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable multiple generations of Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems.

Our multidisciplinary foundry team enables activities spanning from development to sustainment process engineering. ATL is responsible for all aspects of semiconductor technology including design, mask making, wafer fabrication, test, and assembly. Candidates must be strong team participants, have excellent communication skills, and be resourceful as well as multi-disciplinary. A strong understanding of semiconductor technology, direct process development experience and production background is essential. 

The Sustaining Equipment Engineering Manager will be responsible for technical and management activities associated with the Foundry Semiconductor Equipment Engineering specifically focused on equipment availability and continuous improvement. They will be expected to establish appropriate factory metrics goals, along with supervising cross functional engineering teams to achieve those goals. They will coordinate with other managers, including Line Maintenance and Operations on utilizing resources and setting priorities on tactical tool recoveries along with strategic tool availability efforts with groups like Process Engineering and Process Integration.

In addition, the Semiconductor Sustaining Engineering Manager will be responsible for staffing, employee tasking, project management, budget oversight, and program/engineering interface activities. Functional duties include hiring, on-boarding, personnel performance assessments, time charging approval, and employee development.

NGATL

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree with 5 years of relevant experience including prior experience with semiconductor process engineering and device fabrication or 3 years of relevant experience with Master’s Degree

  • Experience in high volume manufacturing

  • Experience with CMMS and other manufacturing execution systems and subsystems

  • Must have some leadership or management experience

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics or a related technical area and 7 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with semiconductor equipment

  • Experience as a tool vendor Field Service Engineer preferred

  • Experience with factory automation systems such as PLCs a plus

  • Experience interfacing with multiple vendors spanning many disciplines including manufacturing vendors and trades

  • DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance NGMCFab

Salary Range: $109,800 - $164,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
