Your Role

Airbus Urban Mobility GmbH has been set up as the central entrepreneur of the AAM cosmos within Airbus. You will be in charge of the Electrical Energy Storage sub-system ensuring the Electrical Energy Storage including performance tradeoffs, certification, partner management. Within your Systems Engineering activities you will define the overall Validation & Verification strategy to satisfy the electrical systems requirements. Furthermore you will be in close exchange with interfacing systems like Electrical Propulsion Units, Vehicle Monitoring System and Flight Control System to harmonize interface definitions, functions and tests.

You will work within a transnational team in a cross-functional environment with interfaces to many other engineering skills such as airframe, dynamic systems, flight tests, or airworthiness within the AAM Engineering team located in Donauwörth and Marignane. 

From day one you will have a technically challenging and diverse job: 

  • Definition of advanced electrical energy storage storage in an eVTOL in accordance with EASA SC VTOL requirements.

  • Definition and design of various components 

  • Working closely with partners/suppliers

  • Preparing internal System reviews and conduct Equipment reviews with suppliers

  • Definition of V&V strategy and test set-ups

  • Systems Engineering and specification of electrical energy storage requirements

  • Functional design (e.g. functional allocation from top-level functions to break down to electrical energy storage)

  • Define inputs and support Electrical circuitry design / wiring diagram design

  • Define electrical energy energy storage system integration (electrical integration (e.g. wiring diagram, software integration, mechanical drawings)

  • Preparation of data for decision making considering lead and development time, cost, safety, quality, certification, strategies.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and skill set:

  • Master’s degree level (or equivalent) in electrical engineering or similar

  • Job experience of several years in electrical engineering environment

  • Experience in development of primary HV battery for demanding applications, aeronautical applications is desirable

  • Advanced skills in electrical systems and circuitry design

  • Good skills in High Voltage DC applications

  • Good skills in Systems Engineering / V-process (desirable experience in DOORS)

  • Basic skills in control engineering

  • Skills in mechanical integration engineering (e.g. CATIA)

  • Experience in electrical systems modeling (e.g. Matlab/Simulink), is desirable

  • Experience in aeronautical applications, is desirable

  • Negotiation skills with international partners/suppliers

  • Curiosity, open-mindedness, problem-solving attitude 

  • You enjoy a transverse and international environment

  • Fluent in English, German is desirable
