Description:The selected candidate will support System Safety Engineering efforts for Advanced Development Programs aircraft. The candidate will support System Safety Program Plan development and execution. Position requires performing analyses for hazard identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques typically used in the design of aircraft weapon systems and sustainment activities. Typical System Safety Analyses performed include Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), and others. The candidate should be capable of performing qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to conduct risk assessments and trade studies needed to evaluate and optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate safety hazards. This position requires extensive interface and coordination of system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management and external customers. The candidate should also have an understanding of adjacent disciplines for efficient collaboration and trade-offs supporting all program objectives. The candidate must be capable of establishing software safety requirements in accordance with the appropriate standard and evaluating the functional impacts of noncompliance in coordination with design SMEs.

This is considered an emerging technical authority position within the system safety discipline.

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or related Engineering degree.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with communicating cross-functionally

Experience with and knowledge of System Safety analyses, standards, and tools

Experience leading projects and teams
Desired Skills:
Military or civilian flight experience
Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754
Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes
Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter
Experience with military or government programs
Knowledge of statistical analysis methods
Model-based system engineering (MBSE) training or experience
Experience working with international customers and suppliers
Government contract execution experience
Full life-cycle experience with system safety analyses, standards, and tools
Ability to operate autonomously with minimal direction from senior management
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in the resolution of highly complex issues, including direct interaction with senior leadership within company and customer organizations and a demonstrated ability to deal with complex and challenging customer and supplier relationships
Experience with software safety requirements across the full development lifecycle from hazard identification through development to system/software qualification test.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
