We are seeking an experienced System Safety Engineer to join our ADATS program – responsible for managing 12 Air Traffic Management sites across Australia. This role presents a unique opportunity to ensure the safety and reliability of military aviation infrastructure that protects Australian airspace. Working with state-of-the-art technology and collaborating with cross-functional teams, youll be instrumental in maintaining the highest safety standards for our air traffic management systems.
The Role
As the System Safety Engineer for the ADATS program, your responsibilities include:
- Leading system safety activities across the ADATS program, serving as the primary subject matter expert and liaison with the Commonwealth of Australia on safety-related matters.
- Managing and maintaining comprehensive hazard logs and risk control plans, ensuring alignment with Defence safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conducting safety assessments for system modifications and upgrades, providing critical analysis of potential impacts on operational safety.
- Representing ADATS at high-level safety working groups and executive meetings, presenting technical findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing safety management strategies that ensure compliance with contractual requirements while maintaining operational effectiveness.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- Requires a System Safety or risk assessment qualification(s).
- Desirable to have Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and/or Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) qualification(s).
- Minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Electrical/Electronic/Systems Engineering.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve complex problems.
- Experience in carrying out hazard identification and analysis tasks, which includes Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Health Hazard Analysis, Operation Support, Hazard Analysis, Sub System Hazard Analysis, and System Hazard Analysis
